Sunday, June 26 2:00 pm at Crown Hill National Cemetery sponsored by Crown Hill Heritage Foundation is launch of the web-based narrated walking/driving tour of Racing Legends at Crown Hill.
JOIN US on June 26 as we celebrate the many racing and automotive legends buried within Crown Hill! Crown Hill Heritage Foundation has again partnered with the Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IRMA) to highlight the fascinating lives of the 60+ men and women who have helped to make Indianapolis the racing capital of the world.
NEW THIS YEAR is the release of our interactive RACING LEGENDS TOUR APP featuring racing and automotive legends’ bios, photos, Google map locations, and audio recordings by IMS historian Donald Davidson and the late, “Voice of the 500” Bob Jenkins!
SPECIAL SPEAKERS include J. Douglas Boles, President of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Jake Query, veteran of Indianapolis Sports radio and co-host of the popular “The Fan” radio show.
Also featured will be the installed beautiful RACING LEGEND MEDALLIONS marking the gravesites of the racing and automotive legends buried throughout the cemetery.
After the interactive RACING LEGENDS TOUR APP is installed, Crown Hill Tour Guide Tom Davis will take participants on a five-grave Racing Legends tour to demonstrate how it works.
SPECIAL CARS! There were will be three special racecars to see at the event, including IMS Co-Founder CARL FISHER’S 1905 Premier Racecar, compliments of the IMS Museum! You can learn more about his car here: https://youtu.be/P5bDZztmhCM
Held at the FINAL FINISH LINE located by Section 13, this event is free and parking is plentiful. Follow the WHITE LINE painted on the road from either cemetery gate to the coned-off area. Bottled water and refreshments will be served. Chairs will be available or bring your own.
